13 detained in connection to Turkey attacks

Three (3) militants in Istanbul airport attack identified by Turkish officials as Russian, Uzbek, and Kyrgyz nationals.

On Thursday, June 30, 2016, Turkey police staged raids different cities and detained at least 13 suspects who are connected with triple suicide bombings at an Istanbul airport.

The bombings left 42 people dead, 239 injured. Istanbul airport is one of the world’s busiest airports, a symbol of Turkey’s modern economy and despite the country reeling from violence Turkey may be threatened to propel the country into wider war with the Islamic State.

Counter terrorism units are reported to have raided 16 addresses in Istanbul and launched operations in the coastal city of Izmir, the state-run Anadolu news agency said.

According to reports, trio of the arrested are foreign nationals. Another group of nine suspects were detained in Izmir for providing logistical support to the Islamic State, but it was unclear if they are directly tied to the attack.

Late Wednesday, 22-year-old Merve Yigit, a catering employee at the airport, died of her injuries to raise the death toll to 42, the AP reported.

Up to now, there is no militia terror group that has claimed responsibility.
