Three male teachers have been killed and one injured after suspected Al Shabaab militants attacked a school in Garissa County. Police confirmed that the attackers struck at early dawn and shot the three teachers and kidnapped a fourth at Kamuthe Resource Centre in Garissa. The attackers also burned a police post before destroying a communication mast. The militants apparently spared female teachers and a female nurse.
A Police statement said, “Suspected armed AS (Al Shabaab) Militia attacked Kamuthe Primary school, Kamuthe Police Post, a telecommunications mast, murdered 3 teachers and went off with another.”
Maulid Bilal has been identified as the mastermind of the attack. Bilal is wanted for leading attacks previously in Fafi and Hulugho regions.
Of late Al-Shabaab have intensified their attacks on the Kenya-Somali border.
