CANDIDATE WITHDRAWS IN FAVOR OF OMINGO

A two-time unsuccessful senatorial candidate has withdrawn from the race to support his political competitor, Omingo Magara.

Vincent Gekone, who had sought to vie for the area senatorial seat as an independent candidate said he will rally his supporters behind the former South Mugirango legislator and assistant minister.

Gekone claimed,he made the decision on realization that Omingo will was best suited to vie and win the seat owing to his long experience in government and politics.

Responding to the gesture,Omingo from Azimio La Umoja One-Kenya coalition commended Gekone saying the move will ensure every vote counts in upcoming general elections.

Area voters’ investment in him will not be in vain; he added and vowed to spearhead legislation in the Senate that was yet to be enacted to strengthen devolution.

According to Omingo, new laws were required to tackle corruption systematically instead of waiting for release of an auditor general’s report long after government resources have been embezzled.

He faulted the current trend where public resources were plundered only to be investigated after three years.
