Census day 4, Nairobi Regional Commissioner calls for patience

Nairobi Regional Commissioner, Wilson Njenga has urged residents who have not been counted to be patient as the census exercise will continue up to 31st August, 2019.  He said that the regional security, intelligence and sub county committees have agreed to extend the enumeration time from 6.00 am to 11.00 pm in order to capture those who go to work in the evenings.

Njenga thanked residents for cooperating with enumerators and assured them of maximum security during the entire exercise. The Kenya National Bureau of Statistics Director General, Zachary Mwangi echoed the government’s commitment to count every individual in the country, noting that time has been extended to achieve 100 percent coverage.

Anxiety has been high in Nairobi as some residents are yet to be counted. A Census is conducted every 10 years in Kenya. This is the sixth time the exercise is being carried out in the country.
