Confederations Cup 2017

The FIFA Confederations Cup is an international association football tournament for national teams, currently held every four years by FIFA.

Confederations Cup is played by 8 teams from the 6 confederations.

Since 2005, the tournament has been held in the nation that will host the FIFA World Cup in the following year, acting as a rehearsal for the larger tournament.

Brazil is the most successful side in the history of Confederations Cup having won a record of 4 titles.

The current champion,Brazil ,who won the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup, by defeating Spain 3–0 in the final for a record fourth title. They will not be able to defend their title, as they were eliminated by Paraguay in a penalty shoot-out in the quarterfinals of the 2015 Copa América.

The 2017 Confederations Cup started on Saturday 17th of June with Russia playing New Zealand.

Denis Glushakov and Fedor Smolov scored as the hosts won comfortably in the opening match of the Confederations Cup.

On the second day of the Tournament, Late goals from Arturo Vidal and Eduardo Vargas saw Chile open their Confederations Cup campaign with a 2-0 win over Cameroon.

European Champions Portugal seemed to have won thier opening match before things went south.

Ricardo Quaresma did open the scoring soon after though after being teed up by Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ex-Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez levelled the scores before the break with a fine header.

Cedric looked to have won it for Portugal with just five minutes remaining only for Moreno to pop up in added time.
