Eleven candidates have been cleared by IEBC to contest for the March 4th Kiamokama Ward by election which has attracted national attention a head of 2020 polls.
Existing national and newly registered political parties have entered the fray aiming to use the by election as a victory yardstick for the impending general elections.
Speaking at Masimba town after being cleared , ODM candidate, Matara Mainya, was presented to ostensibly accomplish the projects the late Kennedy Mainya from the same party had started.
Matara remarked he was aware of the stiff competition in store for the seat saying he was equal to the task.
Having settled the anxiety of clearance by electoral body,the candidate urged his supporters to pray and vote for him so that he could deliver.
The Dr. Afred Mutua led Maendeleo Chap Chap party, candidate, Nyaribo Nyakundi, said if elected,he will press for establishment of an education fund and drill boreholes to safe women from trekking long distances in search of water.
Nyaribo also pledged to improve roads and encourage registration of self help groups as a vehicle for development and empowerment to widows.
Nyangaresi Ateng’a of Kenya National Congress claimed it was time for the electorate to consider youths for leadership positions promising to fix infrastructure and improve agricultural production among others.
