Kerugoya Law Courts law courts yesterday, Wednesday 14 2016, ruled that Kerugoya Town is the official county headquarters Kirinyaga County government.
This is a blow to the County Government of Kirinyaga that had already begun construction of a county headquarters at Kutus Town.
According to County reports, the project that was nearing completion was allocated to the tune of Ksh380 million.
Petitioning
Seven Kirinyaga County residents had submitted a submission, filed petition questioning the legality of the gazette notice naming Kerugoya Town as the county headquarters.
The headquarters debate had brought division among Governor Joseph Ndathi’s supporters and Kirinyaga Central MP Gachoki Gitari.
On Aprill this year, Gitari had given Ndathi 15 days to vacate from the Kutus office and move to Kerugoya, where the county assembly sits.
