Encroachment problems delay road construction in urban areas, says Kurra director general Silas Kinoti. Kinoti said many people had encroached into road reserves across the country making it difficult to implement road construction projects within stipulated timelines.
He said there are lots of water, sewerage and high voltage power lines unlawfully erected by individuals on land meant for urban roads development.
“Construction of roads in urban areas has become difficult due to high rates of encroachment,” said Kinoti.
He spoke at a public participation meeting on construction of Syokimau – Kamulu Road in Mavoko, Machakos County on Monday.
