Embu Police Shoot two gangs two escape

Police in Embu county have shot dead two suspected gangsters in a fierce gun fight.

This is after a group of four suspects who were on theft mission in Embu were accosted by police officers who were on patrol.

According to Embu county commissioner Eddysson Nyale the four had broken into several shops in Embu North before police rounded them at Njukiri area on their way to Embu town.

Nyale said police tried to stop the suspects but they refused to stop despite being flagged down.

The police then proceeded to open fire which the group returned.

Two of the suspected robbers died in the shoot out while two others escaped.

Nyale said several theft items including crates of beer,shoes ,bags and other items were recovered.

“These gang has been terrorizing locals in several parts of Embu,they have been stealing ,cows ,goats and other items from locals but today two are down and we are looking at the other suspects who have escaped,”Nyale said.

He said the vehicle they were using a Toyota fielder KCH 958D they has covered the number plate with cow dug to avert identity from police.

The county commissioner said that they will not relent until all those involved in criminal activities are brought to book.

Embu county commander Daniel Rukunga urged the suspect who have escaped with a gun to surrender to police .

“I want to tell the suspects who have escaped to bring that gun on ,we are pursuing them and we are stopping at nothing,”said Rukunga.

Further he encouraged members of public to be vigilant and not to hesitate to report any causes for concern to the police.

The bodies were taken to Embu Level Five Hospital mortuary.

Police have now launched a man hunt for the suspects who have escaped.

This comes at a time when police officers in Embu have intensified a crackdown on illegal alcohol businesses,drugs and dismantling of gangsters who have been terrorizing locals in the county.
