Fight against FGM, uncivilised village elders propagate vice in Narok

Girls between ages 10-13 years in Narok County are at serious risk of undergoing Female Genital Mutilation, FGM, and early marriage. This is according to the director of Mission with a Vision Rescue Centre, Patrick Ngigi.

Speaking at the Centre, Ngigi added that some chiefs and elders were organizing kangaroo courts in the region that punish the perpetrators of the vice by demanding from them fines and a few cows only but leaving the girls at risk of FGM and early marriages.

Ngigi also called for civic education on the ills of FGM to the village elders to help in Steering President Uhuru’s vision to have FGM end by 2022
