Forceful disarmament in Elgeyo-Marakwet County, Gov’t orders

Rift Valley Regional Coordinator Wanyama Musiambo yesterday announced that the government will forcefully  disarm all illegal gun holders in communities in the Kerio Valley.

This, according to Wanyama, was a result of residents ignorance on calls to have them register the firearms.

Heavily armed security officers will be deployed with instructions not to leave behind any gun they come across.

More officers have also been deployed additional security in the area where lives have been lost and livestock stolen due to cattle rustling between the Marakwet and Pokot communities.

He said more than 400 suspected Pokot bandits linked to attacks in Kerio Valley and the Arabal village border of Elgeyo Marakwet and Baringo counties will be arrested.
