Govt. to forcefully evict squatters to speed up expansion project

The government has resolved to forcefully evict hundreds of families living at the Malindi International Airport land at Kwachocha to speed up the first phase of sh5.6 billion Malindi airport expansion project.

Kilifi county commissioner Magu Mutindika said this after some squatters failed to relocate from the airport land despite having been compensated sh418 million for land and properties.

Speaking to the press after a task force team composed of the presidential delivery unit together with airport manager and national lands commission county representative toured Malindi airport projects, he said they observed that squatters had already begun putting up temporal structures in the airport land.
