Jane Marriott has been named as the new British High Commissioner to Kenya. Marriott is expected to take up her appointment in September 2019.
She takes over from Nic Hailey who was posted to Kenya in 2015.
She previously undertook postings in the USA, Iraq and Afghanistan. She has served as Ambassador to Yemen and as the British Deputy Ambassador to Iran.
Marriott was until recently the Director of the UK Government’s Joint International Counter-Terrorism Unit. She is the first woman to be appointed to the role.
A statement from the High Commission read.“Marriott brings a wealth of experience to the position, having worked across many UK Government Departments including the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, the Cabinet Office, the Home Office and the Ministry of Defence,”
