Four killed following Lamu attack

Four suspected militants have been killed by the Kenya Defence Forces in a security operation at the Nyongoro area flashpoint.

They four apparently participated in a terror ambush on two buses travelling along the Lamu – Garsen Highway, Thursday.  One militant was captured alive confirmed Lamu County Commissioner, Irungu Macharia.

Macharia.said, “Security officers drawn from various KDF outfits are in pursuit of the other suspects who might have been wounded following an overnight gun fight.”

He appealed to members of the public and medical personnel in health facilities to immediately inform security agents of any person who might have gunshot wounds.

The Thursday mid-day attack left three people dead, a bus conductor and 2 passengers. Three people were also injured.

Following the attack, the Government swiftly deployed security teams to pursue the attackers who fled into the nearby expansive Boni Forest.

Public transport resumed early today after a suspension in order for security agencies to pursue the attackers.
