Lesoipa murder-Lawyer Gakinya to undergo mental test before taking plea

Nakuru based Lawyer Harry Gakinya has to undergo a mental assessment before taking a plea in the suspected murder case of Belgian woman, Dysseleer Mireille Lesoipa.

Gakinya was seized by detectives on Friday from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) over his suspected involvement in the murder of Lesoipa. He will be arraigned in court on Wednesday to confirm whether the medical evaluation has taken place.

Ms Lesoipa, went missing from her home in Milimani, Nakuru County, around June last year. The disappearance led to the arrest of her close friend, Ms Lucy Waithera, whom had hired the services of Mr Gakinya to file a succession case before the High Court in Nakuru.

Mr Gakinya claimed Ms Lesoipa had named him the executor of her property worth over Ksh 100 million. He further claimed that she died from HIV/Aids complications.

Ms Lesoipa was married to Samburu dancer Emmanuel Lesoipa before they separated in 2003 after his marriage to a second wife. After the separation, she had been embroiled in a huge dispute with him and his family over their property.
