Tourism players in Malindi and Watamu have expressed hope for the full recovery of the Sector in the wake of the high tourism season that began in early August.
Some tourism resorts in the two towns are showing positive projections with good bookings. A spot check of the resorts shows that they are open for business and are relying largely on domestic tourism.
Speaking at the opening and rebranding of the new Tamu Beach Resort formerly known as Stephanie Sea House, Giovanny Ferraro the manager of the resort said they decided to rebrand and focus on the domestic market which is doing well compared to the Italian market. He further mentioned that their target is not only those with big budgets but also locals who want to see the beauty of Malindi town.
