Mombasa develops blueprint for disaster mitigation

People living with disability at the Coast have threatened to boycott the General Election if the IEBC does not make it easier for them to vote. There are about 220,000 people living with disability in Mombasa. About 50,000 are registered voters.Speaking in Mombasa yesterday during a forum to discuss the challenges they face as voters, the group said it had problems participating in the primaries.

The forum was organized by Haki Africa. Programme officer Francis Auma said PLWDs’ rights should not be violated.

“They need to exercise their democratic right to vote. But they cannot vote in an unfriendly environment,” he said.

The group said their safety should be guaranteed.
