Mutahi Ngunyi Finds ‘Stolen’ Sh11.9 Million NYS Money

Mutahi Ngunyi ,the Political Analyst has confirmed that a whopping Sh11.9 Million was found irregularly invoiced to his Consulting House company. The money is linked to the infamous National Youth Service (NYS) multi-billion scandal.

In a letter to the Public Service, Gender and Youth Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki , Ngunyi stated that after an audit of his company’s accounts it was discovered that the payment was made without an invoice from the firm.

“There is a payment totalling Sh11.9 Million, which we did not invoice any of our clients for. Since none of our other clients has claimed these funds, kindly confirm that this is the said over-payment raised by the Auditor General’s Reports,” Ngunyi stated.

He noted that the payment was done in malice in a bid to discredit and fight the innovations of his firm at the NYS.

The political analyst reiterated that his firm was ready to return the full amount to the government.

“My instruction is to refund the money to GoK with instantaneous immediacy and not to exceed 15 days from the date of receipt of this letter,” Ngunyi noted.

Earlier, the Auditor-General Edward Ouko revealed that Ngunyi was paid Sh12.5 Million more than was due to him for developing a strategy for the NYS restructuring.

According to Ouko, The Consulting House was awarded two contracts — one signed in March 2014 for Sh40 Million and another for Sh50 Million.

The first one was fulfilled and Mr Ngunyi was paid. However, in the second contract, it was discovered that he was paid Sh62.5 Million, which was 25 per cent more than the agreed contractual sum of Sh50 Million.

However, Ngunyi denied the claims stating that he was going to conduct an audit of the company’s accounts. He assured that if discovered that any monies were irregularly paid to his company, then he would promptly refund the cash to the Treasury or NYS.
