MWAURA SAYS HIS LIFE IS IN DANGER AFTER STRANGE DRONE FLIES OVER HIS HOME

A day after a drone allegedly hovered around his compound for minutes instigating fears of being probed, former nominated senator Isaac Mwaura now claims his life is in danger. Mwaura who is an ardent supporter of deputy president William Ruto said he stands apprehensive of his own security and that of his neighbors as the said drone was supposedly being operated inside Membley Police Station. Mwaura who attributed the unclear surveillance of his home to his political nemesis insisted that he will remain firm and will at no time be swayed by anyone.

He further alleged that he is being sought by sleuths for mobilizing people to come out in big numbers during Ruto’s stopover in Githurai on Sunday last week. The ex-senator said he will not lodge a complaint with detectives as the drone was reportedly being operated from their premises as they might not be much of help. While giving their account, Mwaura’s neighbors affirmed that they saw the drone adding that it remained in the skies for at least ten minutes. While expressing concern over their security, the neighbors led by James Mwangi who witnessed the drone urged the government to investigate the matter to guarantee them security.

The former senator becomes the third politician to be rattled by strange drones flying over their homesteads. In March this year, DP Ruto’s residence in Karen, Nairobi received a strange visitor – a strange drone owned by a 37-year-old British citizen. Last year, Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana and the Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen made parallel claims of drones passing over their homes. Complaints they claimed were not acted upon by authorities. For a Kenyan citizen, institution or entity to be allowed to fly a drone, Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) must issue a license at Sh 3,000 fee.
