The unknown tale on NYS loss of over Ksh 1.8 billion emerge

When the National Youth Service Scandal pressure was more of unbearable, the former devolution and Planning CS, Anne Waiguru bowed to the pressure citing medical advisory as the reason for to step down.

But just few weeks after that, the business lady, Josephine Kabura Irungu produced a long detailed affidavit implicating her and dragging few other big names in the NYS scandal.

Her move was positively received by public who were eager to know how such huge amount was lost but the fresh details provided yesterday have exposed Kabura as the main beneficiary in that loot after it was reportedly that she had banked over billion shillings from the scam.

This was confirmed yesterday in an Auditor General’s report which was tabled in the National Assembly indicating that Kabura had indeed received Ksh 1,299,627,930 for services offered to the institution from NYS

This huge amount is said to have been payment for eleven businesses transacted with NYS according to the Auditor General’s report.

The NYS first figure lost was mentioned to be Ksh 791,385,000 for case one then   Ksh 609,252,760.60 in case two later to Ksh 240,751,576.06 and Ksh 222,122,919 in case four. According to the special audit Ksh 1,863,512,255.66 was lost at the NYS under unclear circumstances.

Kabura is also reported to have been waiting for another Ksh. 695,000,000 as a payment for other services to the same institution, NYS, but according to the Auditor General, this was stopped.

In her affidavit she swore as a key witness to the Scandal, Josiphine Kabura had accused Anne Waiguru of being the core to the Ksh. 791 Million that had been discovered stolen in the same scandal but Waiguru brushed the affidavit as “as ill-motivated and aimed at tainting her image”.
