Over 400 ECDE teachers in Nyamira deployed on a permanent basis

Nyamira Governor Amos Nyaribo has confirmed 414 Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) teachers on a permanent and pensionable terms.

While issuing the letters in a colorful ceremony at Uhuru gardens in Nyamira town on Wednesday, Nyaribo said that the decision to employ the ECDE teachers on permanent and pensionable terms of service was reached after a consultative and collaborative meeting with Council of Governors developed the scheme of service which guided in the implementation of the same.

“I am pleased to announce that the Council of Governors, through a consultative and collaborative process, developed the scheme of service which guides the recruitment of ECDE teachers on permanent and pensionable terms and further resolved that county governments set aside funds in the 2022/23 financial year for the implantation of the scheme of service,” said the Governor.

He clarified that ECDE is a devolved function and since transition the county has been recruiting ECDE teachers on contract basis because there wasn’t any approved scheme for employing those teachers on a permanent basis.

 

“My County government has constructed 98 additional ECDE centres complete with child friendly sanitation facilities and we shall ensure that we deploy more teachers as need arises to ensure that all our public ECDE centres will be have professional teachers,” Nyaribo assured.

 

He congratulated the teachers and challenged them to ensure they do their best in imparting knowledge to children under them because ECDE is the cradle of all education and should be given the best attention for easy growth and learning of our children
