PSG sinks Real Madrid as Chelsea wins over Liverpool

Zidane’s boys, Real Madrid, saw a poor pre-season kick-off as Paris Saint-Germain outplayed them in the European champion’s pre-season tour of the United States with a 3-1 win.

Substitute defender Thomas Meunier scored twice in the first half to set up the win, adding to Jonathan Ikone’s opener inside two minutes as PSG stamped their authority on the contest early.

The returning Alvaro Morata slotted straight into the sole-striking role in his first appearance since leaving Juventus, as Zidane’s first-half XI also included Isco, Rafael Varane and Jese Rodriguez.

PSG coach Unai Emery was overseeing the club’s third pre-season friendly after beating West Brom 2-1 and Inter 3-1 in their ICC opener on Sunday.

Thiago Silva, Javier Pastore, Lucas Moura and Edinson Cavani all started for PSG as Emery looked to step up the pace.

Klopp loses against Conte

On the other hand, Gary Cahill’s goal was the difference between the two sides, as Chelsea and Liverpool took the Premier League show on the road.

The two English clubs clashed in Pasadena , with Antonio Conte’s new team taking the honours after they exploited some set-piece weakness from their opponents.

That will depress Reds boss Jurgen Klopp, who has brought two centre halves and two keepers in to strengthen his back line, but he will at least be cheered by the energy and intent of his side.

His Chelsea counterpart though, will be equally satisfied by a performance which suggests he will get a typically Italian resolve from his new players, as the Blues defended strongly.
