Raila receives rousing welcome in Busia

Cord leader Raila Odinga received a rousing welcome in Busia on Wednesday despite Ababu Namwamba’s resignation as ODM secretary general.

The opposition leader was received by supporters and ODM delegates who wore orange shirts and caps.They escorted Raila and leaders including Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and Kakamega’s Wycliffe Oparanya to Port Victoria where he held a meeting with party delegates.

The Cord leader urged the meeting to support ODM saying the party is ready to make the change needed.Raila addressed at least five stop-over rallies in Budalang’i.He said the August 2017 general election will be a two-horse race between Cord and Jubilee.

“We must kick out the corrupt Jubilee government. Let us all join ODM in this fight,” he told a receptive crowd at Bunyala stadium moments after landing at Mau Mau at 10.30 am.

The opposition leader told a crowd that was shouting anti-Ababu slogans that the MP was not the enemy.

“Our enemy is not Ababu but Jubilee which we must kick out in 2017,” he said at Busagwa centre.

“Leave Ababu alone. He is a man from our home. We will resolve our issues at home.”

Raila outlined several development projects he implemented in Western during his tenure as Prime Minister.

“I oversaw the construction of several roads, put up a fish cooling station at Port Victoria and ensured security in this area,” he said.
