RETURNING KENYAN PROFESSIONALS FROM DIASPORA APPEAL FOR INCLUSIVITY IN DEVELOPMENT AND POLITICAL SPACE

Kenyan professionals living in US are coming back to the country and want recognition from the government and inclusivity in matters of development and political aspirations.

Speaking in Ruiru where they gave out school uniforms and bags to over 300 needy school pupils from Githunguri Primary School in Ruiru, John Mbagara who is the Kiambu chairman Diaspora Council said the Kenyan government should make a clear policy of engaging people from diaspora in national building.

He said that some of these professionals have invested heavily in US and would like to come back in the country to return back to the society and change the country for a better tomorrow.

Mbagara said over 200 imigrants have in the last one year been forced by circumstances to return back to the country and many more are willing to return adding that with the strong and durable connections abroad, they can help foster development and change the political stability in this country adding that they only needed the government’s good will and space.

Mbagara who was accompanied by over 50 diasporas from United Stated visited one of their schools Focus Dream Centre in Ruiru before heading to Githunguri Primary school where they donated uniforms and bags to needy children.

The team that mostly comes from Kiambu and lives in US said they have a program where they are targeting to help 1000 needy children in the county saying that already they are working with 10 public schools where they are helping in feeding programs, counselling and other programs designated to change the morals of many children who have engaged in drugs, alcohol and other vices.

Nduati Njuguna said that given the abudance of skilled, knowledgeable and patriotic Kenyans abroad, it is now a matter of the highest priority to integrate the diaspora into our national development agenda.

Bishop Samuel Kariuki who is the director Focus Dream Centre said they focus to train children the Godly way to try and instill godliness in their minds to avert ugly scenarios in future like what the country is witnessing.
