Ruth Kamande , a 21-year-old woman charged with stabbing her boyfriend 22 times was crowned Miss Lang’ata Prison 2016 yesterday.
She is facing murder charges for the brutal murder of her boyfriend Farid Mohammed in September 2015 at their Buruburu home in Nairobi.
The accused is said to have stabbed her lover to death after finding a love message from another woman on his phone. The deceased died while undergoing treatment at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH).
Kamande beat 19 other contestants to win the Miss Lang’ata prison title which is held annually. The event is meant to support the rehabilitation of female prisoners at the facility.
