A hastily assembled Shabana side began their National Super League campaign on a sour note, losing 0-3 to visiting Bidco at Awendo Green Stadium.

Bidco scored through Athony Gicho, Nelson Chieta and John Kang’ethe in an entertaining match. The match would have ended 4-0 but newly recruited Shabana goalkeeper Edwin Otieno saved Hussein Puzo’s penalty. Shabana team was assembled last week and the players are yet to gel. The team will play hosts Vihiga United tomorrow and face Agro Chemical in Kisumu on Saturday.

Shabana will play their home matches at their adopted home ground of Awendo after the rehabilitation works at Gusii Stadium stalled despite the county government sinking in Sh47 million. On Sunday, fans made a passionate appeal to Kisii Governor, James Ongwae to revive the rehabilitation works at the stadium.Shabana fans chairman Boniface Ntabo and Kericho branch chairman Stephen Onyancha said the club incurs huge expenses when playing their home matches at Awendo.
