SportPesa, KRU announce 5-year shirt sponsorship deal

The gambling giants Sportpesa has launched Sponsorship for Kenya Sevens (7s) rugby team.

The Shujaaz were left sponsorless after Kenya Airways (KQ) failed to renew its contract.

The deal will see the 7s team benefit from a 5-year shirt sponsorship.

Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) partnership with SportPesa Kenya was announced during the launch at  Norfolk hotel in Nairobi.

KRU Chairman Mr. Omwela, and SportPesa CEO, Ronald Karauri said shirt sponsorship deal will benefit both National 7s women and men.

“SportPesa is pleased to be the shirt sponsor of Kenya 7s”, Sportpesa CEO, Ronald Karauri said.

The gambling company over the past two years has been a key player in Kenya sports.

From being the official sponsor of Gor Kenya Premier league to Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards football club jersey sponsor, the company has promoted the sports industry and transformed the morale of players.

During the launch of KPL sponsorship. the company went ahead and announced Ksh 100,000 to the player of the month over every season.

The company crossed border later and partnered with English premier League club, Hull City, as their official jersey sponsor.

In the agreement during the launch of the deal, the club was to see its players play some matches in Africa, Kenya for friendly matches well as focus on promoting promising talent.

And to live to the agreement, Hull City coaches have been within the country to watch KPl teams take on each other as they identify potential talents.
