The Kenya Progressive Nurses Association wants the nursing certificate course scrapped and replaced with the diploma course, which they believe has quality training to match the workload of a nurse.

Speaking during the 33rd annual scientific conference in Garissa, national chairman of the nurses association, Michael Nyongesa said, to achieve the universal health coverage, nurses should receive quality training, work under good conditions and receive promotions.

In the conference, it emerged the prevalence of illnesses such as diabetes, cancer and heart diseases, demands that the health care system has enough manpower and equipment, as well as a specialization by health professionals.
