Tottenham make City look like boys in pitch

Guardiola’s run of 100%,  six straight league,  wins at the start of his reign was put to an end with a warm embrace for his victorious counterpart Mauricio Pochettino as Wanyam was crowned Man of the match following his dominance in Tottenham midfield yesterday..

Tottenham handed Pep Guardiola his first Premier League defeat with a 2-0 win over Manchester City at White Hart Lane on Sunday.

The win lifts Spurs up to second in the table, just one point behind City, and means the north London club have made their best-ever start to a league campaign.

Guardiola words after Tottenham match

“Losing is part of the game. I never thought that we would not lose a game. You can’t imagine that. It is normal to the process. Sometimes it happens and it can help us improve.

“It is October. You cannot imagine my team is already done. I am new here. So far it has been an amazing performance but we need more. We have to work more.”

“They were better, the better team,” Guardiola said. “We played against a team who had the same trainer for the last two or three years and last season was fighting for Premier League.

“They have players with talent — we knew how aggressive they are, home and away and especially home. Of course it was difficult — we had problems finding the guys and controlling our game.

“The second balls, we lost a lot in dangerous positions. They were one step in front of us today.

“We can just say congratulations to Tottenham. When opponent is better, you accept it and learn from that.

“Football is a process — sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. When you lose, you learn what you haven’t done properly. We have to keep going.”
