Wamalwa confirms he run for Nairobi governor

Eugene Wamalwa inveterate his curiosity to run for Nairobi Governor seat yesterday when he was commissioning a number of CDF financed projects at Gatanga Constituency in Murang’a county.

The water Cabinet Secretary was at first recommended by four Jubilee MPs and later the number of his endorsement augmented to 18.

“It is time for Uhuru, Ruto and I to take the role formerly played by our predecessors Mwai Kibaki and the late Kijana Wamalwa to strengthen our communities to foster development in this country,” said Wamalwa.

With Dr. Evans Kidero and Mike Sonko also interested, Wamalwa believes he will deliver a dramtic win for the Jubilee party in that CORD zone come 2017 elections.

On Wednesday, 18 Members of Parliament and two governors from the Western region endorsed Water Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa for the Nairobi governor seat.

The Luhya leaders are believed to have laid out a number of conditions that should be effected in exchange for their support for Jubilee ahead of the 2017 elections.

Meanwhile, the CS said that for now, he will focus on rolling out his mandate as Water CS until the time comes.

Over 10 MPs and other senior leaders from western region met at the CS’s home in Spring Valley Estate in Nairobi on Tuesday night, where they agreed that the support of President Kenyatta will be critical for Wamalwa’s governorship bid.

More than 30 MCAs from Nairobi County also attended the meeting.
