It really bothers people when an older man marries a young girl or an older woman gets married to a younger boy. In one such incidence, a single mother of 44 at Kimilili risked being lynched by locals after she allegedly married a form four boy. This begs a critical question; what is the appropriate age difference for a relationship??
The matter of age difference in a relationship has raised various concerns globally with people having such age disparities being highlighted by the society. English actor and comedian Rowan Atkinson and his girlfriend Louise Ford have a 28-year age gap between them. The couple, who went public with their relationship in 2014, moved in together in Atkinson’s London cottage in January 2016. Below is a list of celebrities with their age differences;

While growing up, we used to be told, for a healthy relationship the lady must be years younger than you. In campus, guys used to take a special unit offered by team Mafisi Sacco called “Ponyoka Na Fresher (PNF 101)” This is where senior university students would wait for freshmen ladies to report, young and naïve, then they would show them campus love. But some of my pals would complain that such young ladies though strikingly beautiful, mostly lacked maturity. So what is the convenient age difference??
Well this may not make sense to many of you but at least you can relate. How many times have we read on social media how girls in their 20s brag of having our fathers in 50s in the name of sponsors? This to me means the dispensation in which we live in knows no boundary of love and age is actually just a number. When asked, Crystal Harris, a lady married to man 60 years older than her (Hugh Hefner) said she did this for ‘more security’.
Some men are busy making a brighter future for themselves and their future families that by the time they settle down to then find someone to spend all these fortunes they have grown old, this could lead to the age disparities in this dispensation. There also exists a new breed of women called Career Ladies. These are a sucker for hard work. Some know no age difference. Such could lead to relationships with huge age differences.
Older women also deem younger men as energetic and easy to manage. To them younger men can easily be tamed. Ask around, a friend of yours can tell you he okay with doing all his sugar lady asks because it she cashes out.
The bottom line of any relationship is love. All other factors are just additives. Go out there, get into a healthy relationship and enjoy life as it comes.
