The newly appointed Cabinet Secretary for Defence, Hon. Soipan Tuya, convened an introductory meeting that included Principal Secretary Dr. Patrick Mariru and the Heads of Departments within the Ministry of Defence.

This meeting, held at the Defence Headquarters, was designed to inform the Cabinet Secretary about the current civilian Departments in the Ministry and their respective roles in supporting the Kenya Defence Forces in fulfilling their Constitutional responsibilities.

The Cabinet Secretary expressed her commitment to advancing the Departments’ efforts while ensuring accountability to the citizens of Kenya.

Dr. Mariru emphasized the successful collaboration between military and civilian sectors, which has led to the Ministry receiving numerous accolades, including six consecutive years of clean financial records, Financial Reporting (FiRe) awards, and notable achievements at the Nairobi International Trade Fair (NTIF) over the past two years.

He assured the Cabinet Secretary of his unwavering support, along with that of the Departmental Heads, to help the Ministry achieve its goals.

“He reiterated that the efficiency, effectiveness and integrity of the Ministry has seen the Ministry being assigned to undertake various government projects on behalf of other Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs),” stated the KDF.

As the Cabinet Secretary noted, the Ministry aims to build upon existing successes rather than starting anew, with a focus on enhancing performance for better service delivery to the Kenyan populace.

“As highlighted by the CS, the Ministry looks forward to not reinventing the wheel but enhance performance for improved service delivery to the people of Kenya,” stated the Kenya Defence Forces.
