DPP Honors the late Magistrate Monica Kivuti

The Director of Public Prosecutions joined the Justice Sector in Honoring Late Hon.Monica Kivuti who died while serving as the Principal Magistrate of the Makadara law courts.

The Principal Magistrate, who had a distinguished career in the judiciary, passed away shortly after a tragic shooting incident at her workplace on June 13, 2024.

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Renson M. Ingonnga conveyed a message of condolences to the judiciary and family.

The incident deeply saddened him.

“I was not only shocked but deeply disturbed as her life was taken away by an individual who is entrusted to protect life,” he expressed.

The memorial event served as a poignant reminder of the inherent risks faced by those in the judiciary, a profession dedicated to upholding the rule of law and ensuring justice for all.

Furthermore, Faith Odhiambo, the president of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), urged the court to seek alternative channels for resolving conflicts.

Colleagues and attendees reflected on Hon. Kivuti’s unwavering commitment, integrity, and the significant impact she had on the legal community throughout her tenure.

Her untimely death has left a profound void, felt deeply by all who knew her.

DPP Ingonga, in his address, emphasized the importance of unity and support within the judicial fraternity, especially in times of such profound loss.

He praised Hon. Kivuti for her dedication and the exemplary service she rendered to the nation.
