Suspected Ksh 3M Drug Trafficker Apprehended in Drug Bust

The prime suspect in a Ksh 3 million trafficking case has been apprehended by detectives in Kisii South.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the main suspect, Samuel Omondi Audi, 36, escaped a police dragnet on July 10, 2024, abandoning a car filled with drugs with the registration number, KDP 353U.

“In a determined effort, detectives in Kisii South have made a significant breakthrough in the fight against trafficking in narcotics after apprehending the prime suspect who escaped a police dragnet in the wee hours of July 10, 2024, abandoning a drug-laden motor vehicle Reg. No KDP 353U,” stated the DCI on X.

The DCI further added that during a routine patrol along the Kisii-Migori highway, the police officers spotted a speeding Nissan Xtrail heading towards Kisii town.

Despite initial compliance, the driver sped off and eventually crashed into a ditch after running over spikes at a roadblock.

Three occupants managed to escape, leaving the vehicle behind.

Upon searching the vehicle, the officers found multiple sacks of a green substance suspected to be cannabis sativa, weighing 112.8kg and valued at Ksh 3,384,000.

“Upon searching the abandoned vehicle, the officers recovered several sacks of a green substance suspected to be cannabis sativa weighing 112.8 kg, with an estimated street value of Sh 3,384,000,” read the statement from DCI.

After an extensive search, the main suspect, Samuel Omondi Audi, 36, was located in Kibera, Nairobi, thanks to a tip-off.

Samuel has been apprehended while the search for his accomplices continues.

This arrest signifies a significant milestone in the fight against drug trafficking.
