Launch Of The Trevor Noah Foundation Education At Kenyatta University

In a significant development for education in Kenya, the Trevor Noah Foundation has launched a new initiative at Kenyatta University aimed at enhancing educational opportunities for underprivileged students.

The launch event, held at the university’s main campus, attracted notable figures from the education sector, government officials and international dignitaries.

Ms. Sheila Roquette, Deputy Mission Director at USAID Kenya/East Africa, stressed the importance of partnership and collaboration during the launch of the Trevor Noah Foundation Education Change.

She highlighted USAID’s commitment to improving education and empowering youth, underscoring the value of collective efforts in driving enduring change.

Prof. Waceke Wanjohi, Ph.D., FRSB, FKNAS and Acting Vice-Chancellor, underscored Kenyatta University’s pivotal role in developing future leaders at the launch of the Trevor Noah Foundation.

She highlighted the university’s commitment to educational excellence, demonstrated by hosting the Trevor Noah Foundation and YALI RLC EA cohorts.

Prof. Wanjohi expressed enthusiasm for training and hosting more participants at Kenyatta University, providing them with the opportunity to experience one of East Africa’s premier educational institution.

Chief Guest, Ms. Khuselwa Mxatule, Assistant Director of Impact and Learning at Trevor Noah Foundation Education Change Makers, shared insights on fostering meaningful change within the first unit.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed with Trevor Noah to empower and transform the next generation of leaders throughout East Africa.

The launch of the Trevor Noah Foundation Education Changemakers Unit 1 at the YALI Regional Leadership Center, East Africa, Kenyatta University, marks a significant milestone for the region.

With the first unit commencing their training, we can already foresee a brighter future for East Africa and beyond.

This initiative represents a remarkable first step in a journey of a thousand miles for our region.
