Nandi Governor Stephen Sang was arraigned at the High Court in Kisumu over invasion at Kibwarer farm. He is accused of destruction to property and incitement following the destruction of tea bushes at a private farm. The farm belongs to former Cabinet Minister and Tinderet MP, Henry Kosgey.
Sang spent Monday night at the central police station in Kisumu following his arrest.
Chief Magistrate Julius Ngar referred the matter before the resident magistrate Beryl Omollo. Ngar said he could not handle it based on his relations with the suspect.
Omollo is set to give a decision at 3pm.
Sang still insists his actions were justified as he was reclaiming public land. Sang was arrested when he went to record a statement at Kapsabet Police Station. He was accompanied by his supporters who were teargassed before he was driven to Kisumu.
