President William Ruto has expressed his condolences over the passing of Principal Magistrate Monica Kivuti, of the Makadara Law Courts.

“I join the family, friends and judicial fraternity in mourning the tragic death of Honourable Monica Kivuti who was serving as the Principal Magistrate of the Makadara Courts,” mourned the President.

Principal Magistrate Monica succumbed to gunshot wounds sustained on 13 June 2024, during an active court session at the Makadara law courts.

President Ruto condemned such acts as unacceptable, criminal and an affront to the rule of law.

“The confrontation, threats or attacks of any form against judicial officers is unacceptable, criminal and an affront to the rule of law,” wrote the Head of State on X.

The President underscored that the role of the police is to assure Kenyans of reliable security.

He further added that it is essential that under no circumstances should the police abandon their obligation to protect the public, nor should they become a threat to the safety and security of the people they are meant to safeguard.

President Ruto further stated that whatever happened to Hon. Kivuti is unacceptable and should never happen again.

Moreover, he called on the police to reinforce their commitment to the safety of the judicial officers as they carry out their duties.

“We have lost a firm and hardworking judicial professional who served Kenyans with dedication. She still had a lot to offer to our country,” he stated.

“I pray that the Almighty God grants you strength to bear this loss and comfort you with divine solace,” The President condoled.
