Prime Suspect In Kware Dumping Murders Arrested, Admits to 42 Murders Since 2022

The Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Mohamed I. Amin, has disclosed the prime suspect behind the Mukuru Kwa Njenga murders.

Speaking at the DCI headquarters, the DCI boss stated that, Collins Jumaisi Khalusha, a 33-year-old man, is the prime suspect and was apprehended earlier in the morning.

“In our relentless efforts to deliver justice to victims of the Kware dumping site murders and give closure to their devastated families, we have this morning arrested the prime suspect, identified as 33-year-old Collins Jumaisi Khalusha,” said the Director of Criminal Investigations.

According to the DCI, the suspect was taken into custody in Soweto, Kayole Sub-County at around 3 am in a joint operation by the DCI Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau and Operations directorates, outside a club where he had gone to watch the Euro 2024 football finals.

His pursuit and subsequent arrest followed forensic analysis of a mobile phone belonging to one of the victims, Josphine Mulongo Owino, which revealed mobile money transactions made on the day she disappeared leading to the suspect.

Upon his arrest, the suspect led officers to his single-room rented house in Kware, situated around 100m from the crime scene where the bodies and body parts were discovered.

Among the items confiscated were 24 Airtel sim cardholders with new sim cards, 8 smartphones, One Laptop one hard drive, two flash drives, a phone memory card, a machete, nylon sacks, ID cards, rolls of bhang, title deeds, documents and other things.

On interrogation, the suspect confessed to luring, killing, and disposing of 42 female bodies at the dumping site, all murdered between 2022 and Thursday, 11th July 2024.

The suspect alleged that his first victim was his wife, Imelda Judith Khalenya, whom he strangled to death before dismembering her body and disposing it at the site.

“From his interrogation, all his victims have been murdered in like manner,” noted the DCI.

Investigations are currently ongoing, with the suspect’s residence and the dumping site being treated as active crime scenes.

Yesterday we did recover one more body, bringing the total to 9 bodies recovered so far. The postpartum examinations are happening today,” the acting Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanjo revealed.

Amin urged families who suspect that their loved ones may have fallen victim to these gruesome murders to come forward to the DCI headquarters or the nearest DCI office.

The DCI reaffirmed its dedication to swiftly conclude this investigation to ensure justice is served.
