Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi met with United States Secretary of State Senator Marco Rubio in Washington D.C.

The aim of the meeting was to discuss the encouragement of peace and security, strengthen diplomatic engagement and deepen trade and investment.

They emphasized the fast track of the Kenya-US Free Trade Agreement, where Kenya would seek to sell Kenyan-made goods to the U.S market, boosting certain sectors of the Kenyan economy.

The U.S would be looking for potential benefits of gaining easier market access to the Kenyan market, strengthening its economic ties with a key partner in East Africa.

They also discussed the ongoing East African Community (EAC) and Southern African Development Community (SADC).

Leaders from both EAC and SADC have held joint summits to discuss the situation and held joint summits.

Senator Rubio reaffirmed the United States of the support for their Kenya-led Multinational Security Support in Haiti.

“Sen. Rubio reaffirmed U.S. support for Kenya’s leadership on regional stability, democratic governance, and the Kenya-led MSS Mission in Haiti,” noted the Prime CS.

“The Senator also expressed keen interest in visiting Kenya to further strengthen our strategic partnership,” he added.
