Detectives have arrested two suspects involved in a violent robbery and seized an AK 47 rifle in Meru.

The suspects, Christian Saina Korosian and Moses Kayiok Noomeyo, were apprehended after a National Police Reservist (NPR) officer responded to gunfire shots around 8:30 PM.

“On June 4, 2025, at around 2030 hours, a National Police Reservist (NPR) reported hearing gunshots at Mungania Shopping Centre in Meru. The reservist spotted an armed suspect carrying an AK47 rifle, who dropped the weapon and fled on foot after being challenged,” the National Police Service stated in a statement.

In a move to escape, the suspects abandoned an AK47 rifle and their getaway vehicle Toyota Vitz, which were swiftly recovered by detectives.

Inside, they found Korosian attempting to escape, while Noomeyo was cornered in a nearby house where he was hiding.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects had previously robbed an Mpesa shop in Maritati Centre, Timau.
