Detectives in Nyamira North have arrested two individuals in connection with a shocking incident of mob justice that occurred on July 26, 2025.
According to a report by the detectives, the suspects were captured on a viral video on social media assaulting a man who was accused of theft.
“The suspects, identified as James Nyang’au Kieri and Evans Nyang’au Anyoka, were captured on a distressing footage that has since gone viral on social media, depicting them mercilessly assaulting a man suspected of theft and ultimately tossing him into a burning fire,” stated the DCI.
However, following a forensic analysis, detectives tracked the suspects and later apprehended them .
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigation ( DCI), the suspects are currently in custody, undergoing processing awaiting appearance in court.
At the same time, the National Police Service expressed it’s deep concern over the alarming increase in mob injustices incidents and it’s implications for public safety .
Additionally the public has been urged to adhere to legal procedures, as taking the law into own’s hands will result in legal consequences.
