Kenyatta University Television and Radio (KUTV&RS), has celebrated the graduation of its fourth cohort of trainees who successfully completed an intensive one-month media training program.
The event, held at the Kenyatta University Conference Centre (KUCC), brought together media trainers, institutional partners to acknowledge the achievements of the new graduates.
Speaking during the ceremony, KUTV Communication Director, Machua Koinange, emphasized the importance of building strong professional foundations among young media talent.
“This training is designed to empower our students with skills that will be valuable and practical in the media space. These skills will help them thrive as they enter various media fields,” he said.
Also addressing the graduates, KUTV Program Controller, Boniface Odhiambo, highlighted the unique advantage of KUTV operating the only fully student-run television station within a university in Kenya.
“Being the only university with a student tv station it’s given us an added advantage where the students can come and interact with all the latest equipment and even the latest trainers who are working within the station,” noted Odhiambo.
He encouraged more partners to collaborate with the training program by providing industry experts and additional support to expand training opportunities.
Odhiambo further clarified that the program is open not only to Kenyatta University students, but also to learners from other institutions who are passionate about developing careers in media and communication.
Sharing his experience, Safina Show Host, Albanus Mwania, described KUTV as a path for career success.
“KUTV has been a springboard of success for me. The exposure, mentorship, and opportunities I have received while working here have shaped my growth and opened doors in the industry,” he said.
The KUTV & RS training initiative continues to grow in reputation, offering young journalists and content creators a practical, professional pathway into Kenya’s media industry.
The training program equips aspiring media practitioners with hands-on skills in broadcast journalism, digital production, script writing, camera operations, on-air presentation, video and audio editing and content creation.
Participants engage in practical newsroom simulations, studio work, and field assignments designed to prepare them for real industry environment.
