Today, the Kitale National Polytechnic in Trans Nzoia County hosted a significant sensitization event led by the the Cabinet Secretary for Health, Nakhumicha S. Wafula.
The event focused on ‘The Fourth Medium Term Plan (MTP IV) for the period 2023-2027 which was themed “Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda for Inclusive Growth.”
MTP IV lays out a comprehensive strategy aimed at fostering economic transformation and inclusive growth.
The Fourth Medium Term Plan (MTP IV) is the final five-year plan of the Kenya Vision 2030, transitioning the country towards its long-term development goals.
Aligned with the government manifesto “Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda” (BETA), MTP IV aims to achieve economic turnaround and inclusive growth through targeted investments in key sectors.
This vision encompasses vital sectors such as Finance and Production, Infrastructure, Social, Environment and Natural Resources, and Governance and Public Administration.
The objectives of BETA include reducing the cost of living, eradicating hunger, creating 1.2 million new jobs annually, expanding the tax base, improving foreign exchange balance, and enhancing inclusive growth.
These objectives will be pursued through investments in agriculture, micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), housing, healthcare, digital infrastructure, and the creative economy,” wrote the Ministry of Health.
Crucially, MTP IV is not an isolated initiative but rather one that is intricately linked with international commitments such as the UN Agenda 2030 and Africa Agenda 2063.
By aligning Kenya’s development trajectory with these global sustainable development goals, MTP IV aims to ensure that Kenya remains firmly on the path towards prosperity and sustainability.
The event at Kitale National Polytechnic saw the active participation of not only CS Nakhumicha but also Principal Secretaries from the State Departments for Industrialization and Foreign Affairs, Dr. Juma Mukhwana, and Mr. Abraham Korir Singolei, County Commissioner, alongside local leaders.
Their presence underscored the significance of MTP IV and highlighted the collective commitment towards realizing its objectives.
In essence, the event served as a crucial platform for stakeholders to come together, engage, and strategize on how best to implement MTP IV, thereby paving the way for a future marked by economic prosperity and inclusive growth for all Kenyans.
