The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) reaffirmed its dedication to environmental conservation by planting 2,000 tree seedlings in celebration of the International Day of Forests.

The event, held at the DCI’s Forest Block, was graced by senior DCI officers, representatives from Equity Bank, and officers from various directorates within the agency.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Director DCI, Mr. Onyango, underscored the critical role of afforestation in combating climate change and global warming.

He emphasized that planting trees is not just an environmental initiative but a strategic move to safeguard livelihoods and national security.

“This initiative aligns with the National Tree Growing and Restoration Campaign launched by the President, which aims to plant 15 billion trees and increase the country’s tree cover to 30% by the year 2032,” Mr Onyango stated.

Speaking on behalf of Equity bank, Mr. Edwin Wanjaga, Business Growth and Development Manager at Ngara Branch, reaffirmed Equity’s support for Kenya’s afforestation efforts.

He highlighted the bank’s long-term goal of planting 2 million trees in partnership with the DCI and other stakeholders.

The collective participation observed during this event highlights the collaborative effort necessary to combat climate change and achieve Kenya’s environmental ambitions.

The event saw the participation of senior DCI officials, including Mr. Abdallah Komesha, Director of Investigations Bureau, and Mr. Francis Ndiema, Director of Personnel, along with other senior DCI officers and representatives from Equity Bank.
