The Njuri Ncheke Council of Elders has called upon President William Ruto to fast-track the implementation of Generation Z’s demands aimed at restoring peace in the nation.
Following a moment of silence to honour the young lives lost during protests and the destruction of property, the elders emphasized their vision of a unified and tranquil country that fosters prosperity.
Speaking at their Nchiru shrine headquarters, Secretary General Josphat Murangiri commended Generation Z for advocating for a corruption-free and better nation.
The elders also praised President William Ruto for heeding the voices of the youth and taking steps aligned with their aspirations.
“As you all know, the elders work with the government of the day and we want to say we are very happy for the President for listening to our children and grandchildren, “stated Mr. Murangiri.
He urged the president to promptly act on the agreements reached with Generation Z to facilitate the country’s return to a state of peace and harmony.
Mr. Murangiri urged Generation Z to exercise patience, acknowledging that change cannot be instantaneous. He emphasized the importance of constructive dialogue over protests to avoid further bloodshed, reminiscent of historical struggles against colonialism.
He called upon all Kenyans to support Generation Z in airing their concerns peacefully, cautioning against exploiting their protests for criminal activities that resulted in tragic outcomes.
The elders also encouraged Generation Z to involve their parents and community leaders, including church elders, in fostering a peaceful and united nation.
Mr. Murangiri assured their commitment as Njuri Ncheke elders to support and advocate for the necessary changes alongside Generation Z.
