Great relief and joy comes to farmers in Kenya who grow onions in large or small scale. This happiness has been brought by the Government that has banned the importation of onions from neighboring countries. This has thus created a demand for local onions. The importation of onions had starved Kenyan onion producers of a ready market.

The move is a boost not only to the farmers but for the Kenyan economy. The move is a key step in creating local jobs and also makes onions much more affordable for the local Kenyan. There has been an uproar over importation of everything into Kenya with hardly any restrictions to cushion local farmers.
