Prime Cabinet Secretary and the Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Musalia Mudavadi, has emphasized the government’s commitment to equity in the distribution of scholarships offered by international partners.
Speaking at the Kenya Foreign Policy Public Stakeholders Validation Forum at KICC Mudavadi highlighted the need to address inequalities in past allocations by ensuring transparency and fairness moving forward.
“There is a need to ensure equity to Kenyan beneficiaries of those scholarships. Fairness, equity, and balance is what we should rally together to achieve as a country since every Kenyan pays tax, irrespective of how big or small the ratio is,” Dr. Mudavadi noted
“Today, as I gave my remarks at the Kenya Foreign Policy public stakeholders validation forum at KICC, I noted that the revised Kenyan Foreign Policy, and the resultant Sessional Paper must correct the inequalities and ensure fairness in the distribution of these scholarships,” added the PCS.
According to PCS, the revised Foreign Policy aims to institutionalize fairness by eliminating reliance on individual goodwill in offices for equal access of the scholarships.
The Prime Cabinet Secretary (PCS) also called for potential legislative reforms to cement these principles into law, reinforcing accountability and inclusivity.
“If necessary, we need to subject a number of areas under the revised policy into legislation so that all Kenyans can always benefit,” Dr.Mudavadi highlighted.
However, the government will undertake an audit of past scholarships to ensure these distribution contributes towards country’s development.
