The government has taken a significant step in transforming land ownership and infrastructure development in Taita Taveta County.
In a move to expedite the issuance of title deeds and enhance service delivery, the government has announced the gazettement of two new land registries in Taveta and Voi.
Speaking during handling over ceremony in Taveta Constituency, Deputy President Prof.Kithure Kindiki highlighted that the new registries will streamline land administration processes across the country.
“The Government will gazette two new land registeries in Taveta and Voi, Taita Taveta County and across the Country to facilitate easier and effective service delivery,” stated DP Kindiki.
During a ceremony in Chala Njukini, Taveta Constituency, 1,301 title deeds were handed over to residents, marking a critical milestone in the government’s commitment to secure land ownership for its citizens.
The event was attended by key leaders, including MPs John Bwire (Taveta), Haika Mizighi (Woman Representative, Taita Taveta County), Mpuru Aburi (Tigania West), Principal Secretary for Lands Nixon Korir, members of the Taita Taveta County Assembly, and local community leaders.
In addition to land reforms, the Kenya Kwanza Administration has prioritized the completion of ongoing infrastructural projects, including the 66km Taveta-Njukini-Chala-Rombo-Ilasit Road.
“The completion of ongoing infrastructural development projects is a priority for the Kenya Kwanza Administration. This includes the 66km Taveta-Njukini- Chala- Rombo -Ilasit Road that links Taita Taveta and Kajiado Counties, modern markets and other priority projects in Taita Taveta County,” added the DP.
However, the issuance of title deeds and the advancement of infrastructural projects, are set to transform the socio-economic landscape of Taita Taveta County.
