Cabinet Secretary for the Hon. William Kabogo has officially assumed office as the new CS in the docket.
This follows a handover which was conducted earlier today by the outgoing Acting Cabinet Secretary and also the Prime Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Musalia Mudavadi.
During the handover ceremony, the outgoing Acting CS expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead the ministry and highlighted the invaluable insights gained during their service.
“Having served in an acting capacity over the past few weeks, I’ve gained invaluable first hand insights into this critical ministry, which drives ICT policy, fosters the digital economy and e-government, and shapes the nation’s information, broadcasting, and communication landscape,” stated Mudavadi.
The outgoing Acting CS urged Hon. Kabogo to champion the ministry’s mission as a backbone for other sectors, emphasizing its crucial role in advancing the Digital Superhighway and Creative Economy.
Additionally, Mudavadi highlighted the importance of addressing digital security and ensuring that Kenya’s technological advancements are both innovative and secure.
“With the right strategies, this ministry will unlock vast opportunities especially for young people while also addressing key issues like digital security, ensuring that Kenya’s technological future is both innovative and secure,” he added.
On his part, CS Kabogo reaffirmed his commitment to accelerate journey to digital transformation in the country.
“Our accelerated journey to a digitally connected Kenya starts now. This ministry is central to driving wealth and job creation, and I am committed to collaborating with the team, Cabinet colleagues, and stakeholders to achieve this vision,” stated Hon.Kabogo.
Kabogo was sworn in on 17th January,2025 as Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy at State House by President William Ruto at State House, Nairobi where promised to digital empowered nation.
Hon. Kabogo, along with Principal Secretaries Tanui John (ICT and the Digital Economy) and Ekisiangani (Broadcasting and Telecommunications), is set to lead the ministry into a new era of digital transformation.
