IG Kanja Joins President Ruto in Inspection of Kilimani Police Housing Project

President William Ruto led an inspection tour of the ongoing police housing project at Kilimani Police Station in Nairobi, as part of the government’s broader plan to improve the welfare of security personnel across the country.

Accompanied by Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja and several senior government officials, the Head of State assessed progress on the construction of 540 housing units meant for police officers stationed in Nairobi.

The project is one of many under the national initiative to build 27,000 housing units for law enforcement personnel across Kenya.

According to the National Police Service, the housing project is aligned with the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) and the 2023–2027 National Police Service (NPS) Strategic Plan, both of which prioritize dignified living conditions for officers.

This initiative aims to boost morale and operational efficiency within the police force by addressing long-standing housing challenges.

Speaking during the tour, President Ruto emphasized the importance of peace and development in the country, noting that housing is not only a matter of welfare but also a foundation for effective service delivery.

“By promoting peace, we pave the way for sustainable growth, investment, and prosperity across all sectors in the country,” stated President Ruto.

The President was joined by Lands and Housing Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome; Principal Secretary for Internal Security Dr. Raymond Omollo,PS for Housing and Urban Development Charles Hinga, Director of Criminal Investigations Mohamed Amin,Deputy Inspector General (APS) Gilbert Masengeli and Acting DIG (Kenya Police Service) Patrick Tito, among others.

NPS Strategic Plan, the project ensures that officers are well-supported as they fulfil their critical mandate to protect life and property, safeguarding the peace and security of the country.
